Dry Riser testing includes inspecting the performance of pipework and valves that provide water within buildings and facilities in the event of a fire, checking that the external water source used by the firefighters in an emergency is fully functional. As people’s lives often depend on this fire fighting system, it should be carried out by a competent person.

The frequency of the full wet pressure should be annually with a visual inspection carried out bi-annually. Inlets and outlets of the dry riser will be checked for wear, leaks and tears. After a pressure test is carried out, a certificate of compliance will be issued.

Dry Riser testing is required by law and is the responsibility of the property owner, landlord or facilities manager.
